About Us

Welcome to Hope Foundation Society

We empower communities in Manipur through education, women’s leadership, and sustainable living—building hope and lasting change.

Our Vision

A world where every person is empowered, every community thrives, and every landscape flourishes in balance with nature.

Our Mission

To catalyze sustainable transformation in marginalized areas through education, livelihoods, ecological practices, and holistic capacity building. We partner with local communities, instilling the tools, awareness, and agency to lead their own journey forward.

Our Story — From Hopeful Seed to Growing Movement

In the tranquil hills of Langmei (Chiang) Village, Tamenglong district, Manipur, Hope Foundation Society (HFS) was born from a shared vision: that every individual—especially women, children, and marginalized communities—should live with dignity, opportunity, and harmony with nature.

Founded by Namthonbou Newmai and Judith Newmai, two passionate women driven by empathy and resilience, HFS began as a small, community-rooted effort. Over time, it has blossomed into a beacon of transformation — weaving education, sustainable agriculture, women’s empowerment, and environmental care into the fabric of our region.

Every seed we sow, every life we touch, carries a message: hope can grow—even in remote corners.

What Sets Us Apart

01.

Local Ownership

Our initiatives are not “outsider fixes.” They grow from community consultation, local leadership, and sustained participation.

02.

Eco-Conscious Innovation

We adopt climate-resilient techniques, regenerative farming, and low-impact technology—ensuring our footprint nourishes, not depletes, the land.

03.

Long-Term Commitment

We are not here for short bursts. We invest in continuity, follow-up, and evolving strategies that endure beyond funding cycles.

04.

Transparent Governance & Accountability

Donors, partners, and community members receive regular updates. We foster trust through open books, feedback loops, and shared decision-making.

05.

Integrated & Holistic Approach

Instead of isolated projects, we weave education, livelihoods, ecology, and health into a unified vision—so change is systemic, not piecemeal.

Who We Are

HFS is a women-led, grassroots non-profit organization, deeply rooted in local context, yet driven by universal values of human dignity and environmental stewardship. Our team comprises educators, agronomists, community facilitators, and volunteers—many from within the very communities we serve. This connection ensures that our initiatives are culturally sensitive, grounded, and sustainable.

We partner with schools, local governments, NGOs, donors, and ecological networks, creating synergies across domains—education, agriculture, health, gender equity, and conservation.

Our Journey & Milestones

The path has been rewarding, challenging, and marked with growth. Some key milestones.

Starting with a handful of motivated youth and women in Langmei village, we initiated literacy and agricultural awareness camps.

Establishing a school to provide quality education to children who lacked access.

Mobilizing Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across neighboring villages to catalyze income generation, decision making, and collective growth.

Introducing Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT), organic farming, beekeeping, and soil conservation.

Distributing thousands of fruit saplings, restoring degraded land, and promoting agroforestry.

Today, we reach 900+ students, have 40+ SHGs in multiple villages, and influence farming practices across 10+ communities.
